TYMO® – balance rehabilitation – balance (posturographic) platform

The TYMO® balance platform makes it possible to carry out posturographic tests and to rehabilitate balance disorders in people with neurological conditions. Patients at the NORMAN Neurological Rehabilitation Centre have the opportunity to benefit from specialised therapy for the balance system through static and dynamic assessments, along with exercises tailored to each individual patient.

Body weight distribution, balance, motor coordination and the sense of the body in space – analysing these parameters and taking them into account within the rehabilitation process helps us make more effective use of the patient’s abilities and, above all, to adapt our therapy methods to suit their current state of health.

Gait re-education and improving the quality of a patient’s walking are key elements in the comprehensive rehabilitation of patients with neurological conditions whose motor functions have been impaired. TYMO® allows for an objective assessment of the patient’s functional state and of the progress achieved in rehabilitation. As a result, learning to walk again – for example in patients who have had a stroke – proceeds more effectively.

Maintaining balance depends on the proper functioning of the postural control system, on keeping the body’s centre of gravity in place and on counteracting anything that might destabilise posture through external factors. In patients who have had a stroke, for instance, balance disorders often accompany impaired motor and cognitive functions, causing uncertainty and anxiety and making physical rehabilitation more difficult.
